Well the time approaches for a big time in the furniture industry and this is January Sales. Most retailers will be kicking off the sale from Boxing Day. You can around this time pick up some absolute bargains for G-Plan as retailers will be allowed to discount heavily to clear stock.
This is theory of ours that G Plan control retailer prices quite heavily on the basis that allowing a free for all would devalue their product.
This is pure speculation of course but it would seem this policy has left the door open for a few independents to enter the market with an attractive offer for consumers. These now are at such a size that the old school bricks and mortar business can now no longer compete.
We are discussing here mainly cabinet furniture in the above paragraph, as far as I'm aware the sofa market has yet to see a new big power emerge. It would seem that the likes of DFS are pretty much on the ball when it comes to merging their marketing activities online and in store.
