GPlan Upholstery Buying Tips

If your looking for GPlan Upholstery then your best bet for a better price is to do the following:-

1) Find a competing brand say DFS or someone
2) Go into a G-Plan Stockist and explain to the sales staff your looking at buying, however price wise the competitors brand is cheaper what can be done on price.

I know this is old school way of buying things in this internet age but it's the only way given price policies in place.

What shops will do this? Your best bet is to surf the net and go for the companies that are aggressive on sales and their pitch contains a furniture price promise.

In my next update I'm going to look at a G-Plan piece of furniture and the compare it with another brand to see how they stack up.

Furniture Brands Dying

One of G Plans original ideas was to promote it's products direct to the consumer rare in the furniture industry.

Many of the 'bricks and mortar' furniture business's are trying to stop manufactures doing this. Think about it these days your average consumer is a pretty sharp cookie so goes to view furniture locally.

After short-listing a few products he then hit's the internet to source the product at a fraction of the price. The local shop loses the sale.

So if furniture is not branded it's much harder for the consumer to find a match.

Furniture Pricing Cartels

I read today that Royal Bank of Scotland got fined. You can read more in this article on The Guardian. Curious.... I have worked in the furniture industry well many industries really, and pricing cartels are pretty dam common.

It normally works like this you become a distributor for a manufacturer and you try to aggressively sell their product by offering a big discount. The manufacturer then has other distrubutors complaining at them so they then turn to you and INSIST you follow their pricing guidelines.

So many distributors are forced to put their prices up and who pays the price?

YOU the consumer.

So what can be done? Well I find many distributors will discount to get an order, they can't advertise a discounted price but often they'll strongly suggest they'll 'do a deal'.

It's these sort of companies you want to look at.

Running out of time now but next time I update this I'll recount a story of when I last bought furniture and the tactic I used to get the best price.

G Plan Malvern Sofa Cheapest Price

One of the most popular sofas from G Plan is the Malvern Sofa. Sample price so far found is from Furniture Village. Link.

Now to give you some tips it's likely that G Plan will operate a strict price policy so your not going to see this product much cheaper.

I'd advise you check out local stores and go talk to the salesperson. They will be more likely to offer you a deal.

A company that seems pretty aggresive on price is Daniel Stores. Meanwhile Barker and Stonehouse have a price match promise. I'm not suggesting a Dutch auction but ask the questions to get the best deal!

G Plan Urban Furniture

G Plan have recently launched to Urban collection. G Plan are touting this as a rustic finish inspired to give urban chic look.

For the best prices Google Base gives a good indication!

Looking at various websites and at the pieces it's not your full blown distressed but a light rustic sort of look.

As is usual from G Plan solid looking hard wearing and pretty tough furniture. It's still not as high in quality as say a Devonshire Pine but still the brand is better known so you have to pay a premium.
